Almost a year ago, STARS Virtual Academy (SVA) opened with a simple goal: create a virtual learning experience that feels structured, supportive, and genuinely connected—not isolating.
Thanks to the families who took that leap with us, this first year has been a real success story in the making. We’ve seen students settle into stronger routines, rebuild confidence, and make meaningful academic progress with the right mix of online learning and teacher support.
And now, we’re ready for the next step.
STARS Virtual Academy can now admit eligible students from anywhere in North Carolinahttps://www.dpi.nc.gov/. From the mountains to the coast, families across the entire state can apply.
What’s been working so well
SVA was never meant to be “log in and figure it out.” From the beginning, we focused on what families tell us matters most:
- Clear expectations and a consistent daily rhythm
- A learning environment designed for focus
- Teacher guidance and progress monitoring
- Communication that keeps families informed
- A school culture that encourages students while holding them accountable
That combination—structure + support—has helped many students find their footing again.
Why we’re expanding now
We’ve heard from families all across North Carolina who are looking for a better-fit public school option, but weren’t sure it was available where they live.
After building strong momentum during our first year, we’re expanding and growing so more NC students can access STARS Virtual Academy—without needing to relocate or commute.
